School Admission

A child has the right to attend a school in the Durham District School Board if he or she qualifies in the each of the following categories: age, guardianship, residency and immigration status. Eligible students have the right to be registered in a DDSB school at any point during the school year.

To register, you will need:

  • proof of age, such as a birth certificate or passport;
  • proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate, valid passport, Record of Landing, or Permanent Resident Card;
  • proof of immunization;
  • proof of custody; and
  • proof of address, such as lease agreement or utility bill with your name and address.

Children must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or refugee claimants (with IMM5292 document from Citizenship & Immigration Canada) to register directly at schools.

Attendance Area
Every neighbourhood in Uxbridge & Brock has a DDSB school for you and your child. Every school has a zone around the building that is the school's attendance area. If you live in that area, you can send your child to that school. For specific admission requirements, talk to the school principal. Principals may also enrol students who live outside of the school's attendance area, if there is space in the school. .

How to find your neighbourhood school
To find out which DDSB school serves your address, you are urged to contact the Planning Department by e-mail or by phone at 1-800-839-6913 ext.6421.
